« on: November 29, 2008, 01:21:55 PM »
C10's were supplied to the WD in 2 contracts 1,935 bikes in total the first batch under contract K in 1939 then afurther batch in 1940 as W contract,These had slight modifications to the earlier machines tool Box Speedometer drive Engine tappet cover and rear light. Used as basically a training bike, although some services used them for message carrying.
C11 (W-C11) 530 were purchased by the High Commissioner for India for the Indian Army , again similar to civvy model , but WD spec was for a Rear Carriera Vokes Tank top air filter another tool box, Mag/dyno ignition, Standard patternsaddle.
C12  (W-C12)Strangely the War Office did not order any prewar C12's of 348cc capacity, although it was comparible to the Royal Enfield C model, and the Triumph 3Sw which were in service. However the admiralty did'nt let the C12 down purchasing 16 machines in 1940.
