Check out this thang! The bike is a 1930 straight four Henderson and was customized by it's owner owner before the war. Whatever you think of customized bikes, you've got to admit this styling is still something else! You can find other pictures of it at http://www.thecoolhunter.net/article/detail/1766/1930-art-deco-hendersonNot until I spotted the very obviously 1930 engine hiding behind those mesh covers on the sides, did I full appreciate how far ahead of it's time it must have been. Wow Richie what a stunner the front grill reminds me of a Morris 8 Series E OK Lads Google it! The basic Henderson would have never won any beauty Contests. Sorry if I keep chunking in I am at the moment painting the exterior of my house again for the boys amongst us, Ladders Paint from a can Sandpaper & scrappers. No plastic windows good 1920's wood well Good in 99% percent of the frames, marvellous what one can get in atin nowadays better than the ole Plastic wood I've learnt though don't mix up too much at the same time don't half go off quick. I wonder if there's aplastic replica of me. Woodie

Don't get paint on the computer keys Woodie! If you're like me, you'll never find the right ones unless they have the appropriate letter on the top! I'm assuming you're enjoying paint drying weather. We've got calm seas, but thick fog up here.

I was looking at the basic Henderson at Sammy Millers a few weeks ago, and as Woodie says not the prettiest thing on wheels, the owner surely did have style. Woodie I to am under orders to paint, not windows, but summer house and garden furniture, excellent paint (Crown), but the dog is not to keen on the pale blue stripes he now wears. We are forbidden to fit upvc as we are in conservation area, which is fine by me even though I'm not the worlds keenest painter. Graham

Surely style and elegance peaked in the 30's with Art Deco and blipped again with American cars of the late 40's and early 50's. I would love to fill my 30's house with Art Deco stuff but I also need to eat. Pompey Graham

This is the Airmail van that Daddy Wood drove from King Edward Buildings City to Croydon Aerodrome in 1935 finished in Airforce Blue it was to advertise to the general public the new Empire Airmail scheme which had been introduced in 1933 in conjunction with The General Post Office & Imperial Airways. Based on a Morris 10 commercial chassis it certainatly has Ritchies , Henderson grill & I suppose one could call it Art Deco. Blue Pillar (Posting) boxes were also installed in the city which were either removed or repainted after September 3rd 1939. Aircraft used on the Empire Routes were 6 Radial engined Hadley Page HP42 aircraft which never had a serious accident whilst in service with Imperial the foreunner of BOAC.

The machine is apparently based on a 1930 Henderson—presumably the 100 mph (160 km/h) Streamline model—and was built in 1936 by a gent called O. Ray Courtney. Today the bike is owned by Frank Westfall of Syracuse, a motorcycle collector and local identity, who was seen happily riding this extraordinary motorcycle around the showgrounds. According Mortillaro, “The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning and it’s surely more of a museum piece than a daily rider. Frank has obviously spent an incredible amount of time meticulously restoring and rebuilding the bike to its current gorgeous state.”
