hi all
i have an amal 274 which i intend to fit to my 52 c10 does anyone know if there should be a manifold spacer that goes on before the carb or is it just bolted to the barrel with a gasket ?

Best to fit a 3mm tuffnel (or equivalent) spacer with a gasket each side to prevent vapour lock......not sure if one was fitted originally :-\

ok thank you for that will sort that out,whilst on the subject does anyone know which way round is the correct way to fit the throttle slide as it fits both ways the largest cutout to the engine or the carb ?

The cut away section of the slide should be facing the air intake side.

it has a cutout each side so is that the large cutout or the smaller cutout which should face the air intake ?

No cutout on both sides to my knowledge. Get a new one from Surrey Cycles or Hitchcocks. They should advise on the correct slide.

i thought it had 2 cutaways when it was in the body but taking it out i can see it has only the one so as camman3 says cutout towards air intake.
