Hi all, attached is a description about how to fasten cables to the frame (applicable für other bikes, too).

Cheers, Thomas

When I started work people use to whip screw-driver handles etc like that. Don't know how effective it would be if you had several cables (of both sorts) to fix but it would certainly look nicer.

When I was at school we made a tool of some description in metal work, Can't remember what the tool was now, but we were shown how to whip the handle like that. I've whipped several things over the years. Lots of boat rope ends, and for that I have three spools of different size special waxed cotton whipping thread from the Chandlers. Ron

Great tip Thomas.

I've used waxed cotton whipping for years but never thought about using it on a bike frame.  I'm going to try that.
