SPARX alternator
« on: November 10, 2016, 11:08:23 am »
When renovating my C11G last winter I had to tackle the issue of a de-magnetised alternator rotor. To cut a long story short I decided to grasp the nettle and replace the alternator completely and go 12v.

I bought a Sparx 12v single phase alternator and regulator from tricor.

The alternator fitted with no problems or fiddling around.

As it kicks out some 120watts at 3000 revs I now run with lights on at all times with no worries about flat batteries. Well worth the expense in my opinion.

I hope this information on my experience is useful.

Try this link http://www.tri-corengland.com/acatalog/Alternators.html for alternatives. Your link points to the one I fitted.

To clarify - here is the link to the alternator I fitted http://www.tri-corengland.com/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?WD=sparx&PN=12-Volt-Single-Phase-Alternator-SPX005%2ehtml#SID=131

The regulator can be found here :http://www.tri-corengland.com/acatalog/12v-Single-Phase-Regulator-Rectifier--SPX001.html#SID=122

Cost is £120 for the alternator (stator and rotor) and £30 for the regulator rectifier
