Tight threads ...
« on: December 17, 2012, 08:09:14 pm »
Messing about, fettling a C11 with a brand new battery carrier bolt assembly in stainless. Threads into a bar, side on. Turned easily for first dozen turns, then tightened up, badly. Tried reversing bar, same problem. I had neither tap nor die, so resorted to using a socket driver in my portable drill and putting a little fine grinding paste on the affected area and running the bolt up and down on that part only, enough times to free up the thread. Can now be tightened with fingers.
Will probably fall off instead! ;D
Norfolk 'n good!
