Another tele fork build
« on: October 13, 2020, 03:19:00 pm »
After a month's worth of scrubbing and parts-gathering, i figure out today that the threads on one of my seal-retainers are ugly.
It looks like it was cross-threaded at one point.
I assumed once everything was spotless, they would thread on by hand. When they didn't,  i started looking for issues.

My question:
In the parts lists, it shows 29-5310.
When i search the web, those are either described as "A/B" or '49-'55 C holders.
My bike is a '46.
Are they going to fit, or is there a different part number i should be looking for?
I have a set of forks from a '53 BB34 in a box somewhere. I was tempted to use them, but found out the fender mounts were different. Maybe they use the same retainers, though?

I managed to screw my holders by hand for most often way. However I have had a new pair that they chromed the threads and no amount of persuasion would get them to fit.
