Crank shaft end float

Hello all,

I have been reading past topics on end float for crankshaft.
My bike is a C11 of 1949 vintage.
Just to re-cap, is it right that I don't need to worry about the end float for once the timing side is bolted up it will take up any slack? True or not?

Second question: Just to place my mind at ease, does the oil flinger disc which sits on the crank's left hand side shaft have it's convex side in towards the crank's bob weight. True or not?

I will be happy with two trues...thank you for your thoughts.

No, Its when the drive side cush drive nut is tightened (65ft/lbs) the crank is locked to the drive side ball race

Look carefully at the flinger, you should be able to make out the contact area from the flywheel and bearing, they are slightly different diameters, so can be matched to the old parts
If theres a dish on the flinger ??? if it was facing the bearing would it rub on the bearing outer or crankcase?
sit it on the bearing and see ???

Thanks John,

I have followed your instruction and have done a dummy bolt up in regards to the oil flinger. Every thing turns smoothly and looks good.

Thank you for your input..... another C11 on the way to being saved.
