Footrests C12
« on: September 29, 2020, 12:21:11 am »
I've given up all hope of finding a pair of footrests for my C12 and will attempt to make a set. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who has a C12 that I could copy so I would appreciate it if someone could give me some guidance as to dimensions. If you can could you let me know:

1. The parallel offset between the footrest hanger bar and the footrest
2. The offset between the hanger bar attachment and the footrest i.e. Offset from the centerline of the bike
3. The offset angles
4. The relative position of the internal hexagon. I note that the hanger bar has parallel faces in the horizontal position. When installed can the footrests sit horizontal? I realize that isn't the normal mounting position but I need a reference
I have bought two six sided long sockets which I've cut the drive ends off to use as my internal hex
Thanks. Ray

These are reasonable price, but slightly different pattern and don't show if they have the 7/16 AF hexagon hole or not.
Maybe worth calling seller.?

Would it be possible to machine the taper to parallel and slot in those two AF sockets you have?

Possibly lathe work is cheaper that weld/fabrication work.

Depends on what resources are around you I guess.
Ginge.

Finally found my sketches of the C foot rests. You need 29-7550 & 29-7571 for a C12(ohv).
I have included what I believe to be 29-7549 for the earlier 3 speed bikes.

Thanks so much Owen for the sketches and to all that have responded

I tried some of the eBay listings but the response was that they didn't ship them overseas. So that's pretty conclusive!  Some that did wanted 40 Quid for mail. I feel it's just too expensive

I really don't fancy the expense and anguish of buying other footrests, importing them, modifying them and then not quite getting the result I want

Appreciate everyone's help and comraderie

Cheers
Ray
