Hi all.
I have just cleaned out the bottom end on my C11G 1954, and wondered if i need to prime the oil pump? (I hav'nt started the bike before, so not sure about normal operation) i have heard of other brand bikes that need to have this done. Or does it work fine if i just fill my oil tank, and allow this to enter the engine by kicking it over a few times, and the pump will do its own thing?.

Hi,
When i rebuild or clean out the engine i always remove the spark plug and kick it over untill the oil starts coming out the return tube in the oil tank, that way you know it has some lubrication before starting her up, especialy with a new rebuilt engine.

I always give the oil pump a couple of squirts of oil from my oil can. Then replace the bottom plate. I have never had trouble picking up the oil doing it this way
