That 'should' be off, Ricky. To avoid any doubt or disasters, I'd just loosen the union on the outlet side to make sure, if it were mine.

You could try re-seating the ball valve and then do away with the tap.

i need a good selection of metric spanner as yours to work on my Bsa ...as here in Italy we have another sistem of spanner  ......i will search around ebay.co.uk or amazon.uk..............

You need bsf and Whitworth spanners or an imperial adjustable.

Loads on Ebay UK, but I don't know what you have access to in Italy. I've always bought the cheapest and they're fine for the home mechanic.
