Tele fork rebuild C11

So this winter I intend to rebuild the forks on my 48 C11 as I’m not happy with them, they have little or no damping, currently pogo sticks and make a godawful creaking when moving and return with a noticeable thud......I’ve looked at the service sheets on the site and at dragonfly so am familiar with assembly but with the exception of “Twine” I’ve seen mentioned ? Where Is this fitted and what is it’s purpose? ( I’ll also purchase the correct tooling required )

Where the oil seal holders meet the fork leg there is a reecess on the leg. The twine goes in the reeces

Thanks Owen, so I’m assuming the twine /string acts as a sort of oil scraper ? How long and What diameter is it ? I can’t find mention of it in the build manual , or a part number .

I used normal non plastic string on mine. Others have used PTFE or loctite.

PTFE tape does the job - about seven or eight turns.

Martyn,
The twine was used to seal the threads on the seal holders against the bottom legs
If they had ptfe or thread sealant back then they would have used it instead

I'm putting my forks back together this afternoon and would have forgotten the twine thing entirely.
