Pre 54 models had round speedo's. C10L, someone C11G's and C12‘s (ohv) had D shaped.  See attached link.

the thread is M6
these D shaped speedos were built under licence from jaeger (french) and have metric threads NOT 6BA
you will need 3 extra long nuts like these

they are called "studding connectors"
